At Institut Monte Rosa, even the holidays involve the joy of learning: A special and very popular feature offered by our school are its summer and winter Swiss holidays, “an international lifestyle experience” where students can learn to live with girls and boys from other nations through sports, outdoor activities and language training (French, German or English). A great variety of programs allows students to obtain self-assurance and to understand and appreciate each other (minigolf, archery, waterskiing, windsurfing, rafting, cookery and much more).

Summer Camp

The High School welcomes students from 9th -12th Grade. At every grade level, each student has a personalised timetable, which develops his / her strengths and challenges intellectually and which they may wish to pursue further at university.

    • DATE OF COURSE: From June 21 to August 23, 2017

 

    • MINIMUM STAY: 2 weeks / Arrival and departure every Wednesday

 

    • COURSES: French, German or English as a foreign language. Students are placed in classes according to their level.

 

    INCLUSIVE PRICE PER WEEK: CHF 1’950.-

A great variety of programs allows students to obtain self-assurance and to understand and appreciate each other.

In the morning : students may choose one or two languages and are placed in the various classes according to their previous knowledge.
Afternoons : active leisure, cultural events and a variety of sports activities.

One program, different cultures

Teaching boys and girls of different nationalities to live side by side in a spirit of democracy, through sports, open air activities and language courses: that is the main aim of our holiday camps. Thanks to our varied programs, pupils gain confidence in their own resources and learn to value each other. They quickly develop a healthy approach to life. At Monte Rosa each day is an unforgettable experience.

Students are encouraged to complete a project in the form of an illustrated composition, before the end of their stay, in order to qualify for a certificate.

Example Of One Day At Monte Rosa

07:30: Wake up
08:30 – 10:05: Classes
10:05: Break, sign up for the program in the activity room
10:30 – 12:05: Classes
12:15: Lunch, followed by room control and supervision
13:00 – 13:30: Conversation class

Afternoon Program:

      • 13:30: Meet in the garden for the following activities:
      • 1st GROUP: visit the Château de Chillon
      • 2nd GROUP: waterskiing & wakeboard
      • 3rd GROUP: swimming pool
      • 4th GROUP: departure at 12:45 for rafting in Rougemont (bring your swimming suit, a towel and warm clothes)

Evening Program:

      • 18:30: Dinner
      • 19:15: Sport competition: football – minigolf or various activities in the garden: arts & crafts
        The snack bar Monte Rosa will be open,
      • Tennis lessons
      • 22:00: Lights out for all student

Included Services

For each registration, our summer holiday program includes the following services:

Classes :

French, German or English as a foreign language: The chosen language lessons take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings.
Students are interviewed and then placed in a class suited to their level.
22 periods of teaching are provided, including conversation classes. On request, students may study one other language of their choice.

Boarding :

Including the three following meals: breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner.

Accommodation :

In double or triple rooms according to availability.
Text book and exercise books, including scholastic and academic help.

Residence taxes

Extra scholar activities :

Excursions, social and sporting activities
Use of swimming pool and tennis court, mountain biking, barbecue and a wide range of competitions with prizes, in accordance with summer course program
Excursions and activities are organized and supervised by our staff

Non-included Services

Some options and extra activities are not included in our standard weekly price. These are mentioned in the Application Form, such as:

        • Obligatory accident and health insurance, medical and dental care, private tutoring, pocket money and other personal expenses
        • Airport transfers, horseback riding, waterskiing, tennis lessons, etc.
        • On request: Single room, according to availability

A great variety of programs allows students to obtain self-assurance and to understand and appreciate each other.

          • In the morning, students may choose one or two languages and are placed in the various classes according to their previous knowledge.
          • Afternoons are set aside for active leisure, cultural events and a variety of sports activities.

The winter courses enable boys and girls to learn a language or perfect their linguistic skills in an international atmosphere, with an accompanying program of skiing and other sports.

At the same time, pupils have an opportunity to personalize their studies by attending a choice of regular school year classes. Monte Rosa: an intelligent way of spending a holiday with unforgettable memories.

Winter courses

Foreign languages
During winter holiday, students may choose French and English as foreign languages. Intensives courses are given every mornings during their stay.

Other subjects on request

Students are interviewed and then placed in a class suited to their level (from beginner to advanced) and ability. Each student has 20 lessons per week in groups of 6-12 pupils. The teaching method places the main emphasis on oral and written language practice, together with grammar, comprehension and phonetics.

Private classes

Supplementary private lessons can be arranged on request for more personalized tuition in the chosen or another language.

Certificate

Students are encouraged to complete a project in the form of an illustrated composition, before the end of their stay, in order to qualify for a certificate.

Ski/snowboard program

Pupils are assigned to groups suited to their level. Ski / snowboard lessons are available for beginners and intermediate skiers.

Our Ski Resorts

Our private school offers a wide range of destinations for our ski/snowboard activities. Our goal is to provide several places to visit for our pupils. Students who do not know Switzerland yet, will discover beautiful landscapes in world-famous ski resorts, such as:

Departure for the ski excursion to VERBIER
All students must have the following equipement:

helmet
ski goggles
sun glasses
gloves

Ski with your group leader or in small groups of students for experienced skiers/boarders. Do not leave marked runs.

Collect your ski passes and ski maps from the teachers, at the same time you will receive instructions about lessons and groups.

16:30: Final meeting
19:00: Dinner
19:30 – 20:30: Study / Free time
22:00: Lights out for all students
