Swiss Education Academy, formerly the Swiss Language Club, is part of Swiss Education Group, a world leader in hotel management schools. SLC has been organising summer language camps in Switzerland since 1983, combining top quality education with a wide range of leisure, sports and sightseeing activities.

SLC offers a first-rate summer programme headed by a highly motivated and experienced team in our study centre in Leysin. The programme, located only half an hour from Lake Geneva, is open to participants aged 12 to 18.

Intensive language lessons in the morning are followed by a varied afternoon and evening programme featuring sports, recreational activities and excursions.

English and French courses are available for the entire duration of the camp, while German classes are only open during four weeks.

Continually renovated, our courses centre features modern classrooms, comfortable double and single rooms, as well as a large variety of leisure facilities. The SLC centre also acquired an excellent reputation for its culinary quality, provided by the Swiss Hotel Management School.

A team of professional chefs prepares three buffets (breakfast, lunch and dinner) from Monday to Friday, with brunch and dinner on the weekends. Barbecues and special theme nights add even more variety to the mix.

Activities

Our extensive sports, leisure and excursion programme provides great recreational opportunities, as well as the chance to make new friends from all over the world.

Class Structure:

Language classes are available in English, French and German.

On day 1, all participants take a placement test and students are divided by level. On average, there are four 45 minute classes a day with approximately 12-13 students per class. At the end of your stay, you will be presented with a certificate of participation.

Duration:

Swiss Education Academy runs all summer, so you can choose from a minimum 1-week stay up to the full 8 weeks.

Course Fees:

1 week is CHF 1,250.- 2 weeks is CHF 2,150.- 3 weeks is CHF 3,130.- Each additional week is CHF 1,050.- Enrollment fees CHF 110.-

Price includes: standard double bedroom and all meals, as well as the “Fit and Fast” and “Take It Easy” activitiy packages.

According to individual needs, health insurance (obligatory for non-EU residents), airport transfers and room upgrades are available upon request.

English is an international language, an indispensable tool in today’s business world, a must-have skill for travellers and globetrotters.

Our English language camps in the French speaking part of Switzerland complement the language learning process of each student during their normal school year. Not only do participants in our summer camps benefit from a first-class English language summer program that helps them develop their language skills, practice their acquired knowledge and revise certain specific subjects; they also benefit from an international environment which will allow them to make friends all over the world.

All the SLC staff members can communicate in English.

To help you learn English and improve your speaking skills, our classes are adapted to all levels. A placement test taken on arrival will determine the level of each student.

At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of participation showing the course level and duration of their stay.

French is considered one of the 5 most influential languages in the world today. It is particularly important in Central Europe, where French is a language frequently used in business and tourism.

Swiss Education Academy offers a French language summer program for all levels. In 2013, SLC developed a teaching methodology to learn French allowing each participant to progress through simple and interactive exercises at levels A1, A 2, B1, B2 and C1.

Every student takes a placement test upon arrival, and receives a certificate at the end of their stay. All our teachers are French native speakers.

Participants in the French language summer program staying for more than one week have the opportunity to learn a second language. SLC also offers English and German classes.

Participants can choose the length of their stay from 1 to 7 weeks with Swiss Education Academy.

German is the second most spoken language in Europe. Spoken by two thirds of the population, German is an essential business language in Switzerland.

Even though our Swiss language camps are based in the French speaking part of Switzerland, every year SLC offers a German language summer program for adolescents aged 10 to 16 in our Leysin campus. Class content is varied, covering grammar and vocabulary topics as well as interactive exercises and games that help developing communication skills.

Students who wish to learn German benefit from ideal learning conditions with small classes (average size of 8 students) and teachers of German mother tongue. Every student takes a placement test upon arrival, and receives a certificate at the end of their stay.

Participants can choose the length of their stay from 1 to 4 weeks. It is possible to combine a German language camp with a French or English language summer program.

Over the years, thousands of participants have enjoyed our language camps. Their comments and feedback, together with our innovative management approach, have inspired us to forget the traditional summer school concept in favor of a new type of language camp that is suited to the needs of modern teenagers.

Our dynamic teaching team aims to make learning enjoyable. Although lessons are intensive, they are delivered in a relaxed atmosphere, ensuring excellent results in a short period of time.

2. International environment

With more than 30 different nationalities represented in our camps in 2015, each participant has the opportunity to learn in an international environment and make friends from all over the world.

Our staff is fully dedicated to creating an amazing language experience for the participants. Recruited mainly from Switzerland, France and Great Britain, the staff can speak 10 different languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Russian.

4. Various extra-curricular activities

Intensive morning classes call for relaxation and recreation in the afternoon. Whether you’re interested in sporting activities, visits or workshops, there are plenty of possibilities with our six activity programs.

The SLC evening activities are one of the highlights of the camps. Throughout the weeks, our animation team will organize memorable activities such as Mr. and Ms. SLC, Carnival or Casino Nights, and much more. The famous disco night will close the week after the certificate ceremony on Friday evening.

Located in the Alps, Leysin is a much sought-after destination for lovers of winter and summer sports. Plenty of activities are offered in the village, which is also well-known for its safe environment.

By operating out of the Swiss Hotel Management School campus, SLC has the chance to benefit

from modern classrooms, study lounges, coffee shops, cafeteria, sun decks, and much more.

The safety of our guests is always a top priority; all buildings comply with legal requirements, and our well-trained staff is available around the clock.

Course fees include accommodation in a standard double room. However, single or deluxe rooms are available for an additional fee (see price list). Rooms are cleaned every week, and towels and bed linen changed.

Delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets are prepared every day by our team of professional chefs. Occasional barbecues and special theme parties offer even greater culinary variety to our guests.

Because the facilities are used by the hotel management school during the rest of the year, we are able to offer our high-quality summer programme at an affordable price.
