Le Rosey school fees for 2027/28

Le Rosey school fees are set once a year in two bilingual documents called Conditions financières et contractuelles: one for Classes 5 to Terminale (the Cadets and Seniors) and one for the Juniors in Classes 9 to 6. Both current versions are dated September 2026 and cover the 2027/28 school year. The school links them from its practical information page, and the French text is the binding one.

Fees are paid in advance, term by term. A new pupil admitted for 2027/28 pays the first term together with the deposit within 10 days of the decision, the second term by 31 March 2027 (or within 10 days of admission if the decision comes after 20 March) and the third term by 31 January 2028. Pupils already at the school pay the first two terms, CHF 109,600, by 31 March 2027.

The documents name no monthly plan; spread over twelve months, CHF 164,400 would be CHF 13,700 a month. Enrolment renews automatically from year to year, and parents who want to withdraw a pupil for 2027/28 must tell the school in writing by 31 March 2027; after that date the first term is not refunded.

What the current year, 2026/27, costs and how much the fee rose

The school year now running is priced by the previous Cadets-Seniors document, version September 2025. The school's link now leads to the 2027/28 version, but the Internet Archive holds a copy of the earlier one saved on 13 December 2025. Set against the new version, boarding and tuition rose by 3.0% and the guarantee deposit by CHF 3,000.

In the 2026/27 Cadets-Seniors document the second term was due by 1 April 2026 and the third by 31 January 2027. The 2026/27 Juniors document, version September 2025, survives in an Internet Archive copy of 9 December 2025: boarding Juniors paid CHF 105,900 (three terms of CHF 35,300) and day pupils CHF 56,100, so the Juniors' boarding fee rose by 2.8% for 2027/28 and the day fee did not change.

What Le Rosey's tuition and boarding fee includes, and what comes on top

Both 2027/28 documents (Cadets-Seniors, Juniors) list what the boarding and tuition fee covers and what is invoiced separately. The lists match for the two sections, with the differences for the Juniors noted in brackets.

• All academic classes of the official programmes, and school books
• Full board and accommodation, including local residence taxes in Rolle and Gstaad
• Sports lessons including the ski pass, golf, riding and sailing (Juniors: ski pass and riding)
• Group lessons in music, visual arts, theatre, cooking and technology (Juniors: music groups and workshops)
• Bed linen, towels and laundry, except dry-cleaning
• Transport of pupils' belongings between Rolle and Gstaad
• Evening, weekend and Saturday-morning activities on campus, compulsory expeditions and the mountain programme
• University counselling, transcripts and application files, excluding postal and registration fees (Cadets-Seniors)
• School computers or iPads where the school supplies them as mandatory, and events in the Rosey Concert Hall

Compulsory charges outside the fee

• Uniform, supplied by the school: ceremonial dress and sports, expedition and ski clothing, at a cost that depends on what a pupil already has
• Health: pupils not permanently resident in Switzerland must join the school's collective health insurance, billed as a flat fee of CHF 3,950 a year (CHF 8,620 for older Cadets-Seniors: from age 18 in the French text of the conditions, which prevails, and from the 19th birthday in the English text); families resident in Switzerland insure their children themselves under the LAMal
• School stationery and the setting up of personal computers
• Weekly pocket money, CHF 20 to 120 depending on the section (Juniors: CHF 20 to 30)

Optional extras

• Private lessons in any subject, CHF 100 to 120 a period, with prior parental authorisation
• Group cultural and recreational outings, about ten a year on average according to the documents, at CHF 60 to 250 each
• Mid-term trips in October (Juniors: trips in May) and weekend trips, each priced on an authorisation form signed by the parents
• Plane and train tickets, taxis and visa applications; for Cadets-Seniors also optional weekend excursions and special activities such as diving or karting

Extras are invoiced four times a year and are payable within 30 days; an invoice not contested in writing within 30 days counts as approved. Fees remain due in full during any temporary absence, and a pupil withdrawn by the parents during a term owes that term and the next one, unless the withdrawal is agreed with the school, when only the current term is due.

A year at Le Rosey worked through, from registration to the third term

For a pupil living abroad who enters the IB section of Class 1 in September 2027, the 2027/28 document produces this sequence of payments.

By 31 March 2027, months before the first day of school, the family in this example has paid CHF 130,600. The fixed items for the year add up to CHF 182,250 (164,400 plus 13,900 plus 3,950), before uniform, pocket money and extras. For a French baccalauréat pupil in Class 1 or Terminale the same sum is CHF 173,250, and in Classes 5 to 2, where neither exam charge applies, CHF 168,350. The unused balance of the deposit is repaid at the end of the term after the pupil leaves.

Le Rosey at a glance: campuses, ages and curricula

Institut Le Rosey has taught since 1880, and its home page describes a school for students aged 8 to 18 in which all pupils board. The main campus is the Château du Rosey in Rolle on Lake Geneva: a park of 28 hectares, with the girls' campus a few hundred metres from the boys' and the Juniors in a house of their own (Rolle campus). From January to March, as it has since 1916, the school moves to its own chalets in Gstaad (winter campus).

In September 2026 the school's website gives 460 students from approximately 70 countries and 130 teachers, with a quota policy by language and country (essential points), and an average class size of fewer than ten (academics). Teaching is bilingual in English and French, and every pupil works towards the full IB Diploma, in English, French or both, or the French baccalauréat.

The one exception to full boarding in the fee documents concerns the youngest: day places exist in Classes 9, 8 and 7, and if beds allow, day pupils may board for the Gstaad term only.

The school year in three terms

• Autumn term in Rolle, from the beginning of September to mid-December, with a week of travel or holidays in October
• Winter term in Gstaad, from the beginning of January to mid-March, with the school's ski races and university meetings in mid-February
• Spring term in Rolle, from the beginning of April to the end of June, ending with the graduation of the senior students

Admission to Le Rosey: steps, dates and quotas

Le Rosey takes decisions for a given September from the September before, and it encourages families to register between June and September of the year preceding entry (admissions). The application is made online, with the academic record and a medical report completed by a doctor.

3. 3DecisionFor Classes 9 to 4 (UK Years 4 to 9, US Grades 3 to 8) a committee meets weekly and usually decides within two weeks of a complete file: acceptance, deferral, waiting list or refusal. Classes 3, 2 and 1 are decided in rounds.
4. 4Confirming the placeFor 2027/28 entry, pay CHF 72,800 (boarding Juniors CHF 54,300) within 10 days of admission, or the place is cancelled.

Places are limited by quotas for each age level, nationality and language group, and these fill in the course of the year, which is why the school advises applying as soon as possible after September. Knowledge of English or French is not essential for the Juniors; from the Cadets (age 12) a pupil should understand one of the two languages, and from 15 must master one. The school notes that competition from Class 3 (UK Year 10) onwards is increasingly intense, and that many pupils arrive aged 12 to 14.

Entry for the last two years to take the IB is possible, but the school does not recommend it and describes the few places as highly competitive. Mid-year entry is rare and usually happens at the start of the second or third term. Candidates who miss out for lack of space or because of quotas may extend their application to Le Régent International School in Crans-Montana, which Le Rosey calls its sister school.

On influence the documents are explicit. Le Rosey states that it does not ask for or accept donations, that connections do not secure a place, that it does not pay agents or intermediaries, and that agents have no influence over admission decisions; families who use an adviser pay that adviser directly. Scholarships and financial aid at Le Rosey

Le Rosey and the Rosey Foundation grant three to five partial scholarships a year to pupils whose parents cannot fully finance a place; the school awards no full scholarships, and aid candidates may be admitted from Class 3 to Class 1 (UK Years 10 to 12). A request is made through the online registration between 1 September and 31 December, with a CHF 500 application fee, and later requests roll over to the following September (admissions).

The family must document its financial situation, the amount of aid is based on that documentation, and the family still makes a significant contribution to the fees and covers non-obligatory expenses.

How Le Rosey's fees compare with houses that publish 2026/27 figures

Le Rosey is not one of the houses on our site, and this page describes it only from its own documents. A fair comparison with other schools uses the same school year, the highest boarding year group and the compulsory extras. On that basis Le Rosey's 2026/27 fee for Classes 5 to Terminale is CHF 159,600, plus CHF 13,300 in the IB final years and the CHF 3,950 health flat fee for pupils not resident in Switzerland: CHF 176,850 for such a pupil in the IB final years.

The five houses below share one or more of its features. La Garenne publishes a boarding fee for Years 1 to 6 and includes the ski pass for boarders (2026-2027 conditions). Collège du Léman near Geneva offers both the IB Diploma and the French baccalauréat, the two diplomas Le Rosey teaches (school site). St. George's in Montreux publishes boarding fees for Years 6 to 13 (fee schedule). Aiglon, Beau Soleil and La Garenne are in the Villars area of the Vaud Alps, and Aiglon and Beau Soleil both teach the IB Diploma (Aiglon, Beau Soleil).
